MGM Grand Macau hosted a Wedding Fair on 21st September. The event was started at noon to 8pm. The event has invited numerous international brands to join and showcase their latest collections and thoughtful services to the fair. It featured exhibition booths at the Grand Ballroom, which included wedding gowns and tuxedos, professional photography and wedding planning services while visitors had the opportunity to see various sets of alluring Chinese and Western banquet settings. List of international exhibitors included Central Weddings, Giorgio Armani Beauty, Six Senses Spa, Chihuly Gallery and TNC Production.

“Fascinating Gowns Show” was presented at the Grande Praça from 3:30pm to 4pm, with a group of 12 models paraded the wedding dresses. During the “Bridal Make-Up Demo” session at the Giorgio Armani beauty booth, professional make up artists had shared tips to all the guests and visitors on the latest trends and techniques for bridal make-up by conducting on the spot make up demonstrations with models.

Organized by Japan’s Panorama International, DJ Ozma and touring show group Club Royale arrived Macau on 20th September for the first concert by a major Japanese pop artist held in Macau.

Approximately 250 fans, arriving together with the Club Royale band of singers, dancers, actors and comedians from Tokyo, flew to Macau on Viva Macau’s Narita-Macau direct flight on Saturday September 20. A gala dinner and private concert performance were hosted in the Venetian Macau ballrooms.

Macau SAR signed a Mutual Visa Exemption Agreement with Mexico, which will grant Macau SAR Passport holders more convenience when entering the Latin American nation. After the agreement comes into effect, holders of a valid Macau SAR Passport will be exempted from visa requirements when entering Mexico for a stay of maximum 90 days.

The agreement will be effective from October 19, 2008.

Speymill Macau Property Company Plc said it has acquired one of the only few Grade-A office buildings in Macau - AIA Tower for HK$600 million. Located at the heart of the Central Business District of Macau, the investment in AIA Tower has been made through the acquisition of Cayman Island company's entire issued share capital - Turbo Ventures Ltd.

AIA Tower has 292,335 sq ft (27,160 sq m) of office space, 80,396 sq ft (7,470 sq m) of spaces which cater for the various retail tenants including Starbucks at the bottom levels, as well as 186 car parking spaces. The capital values of the AIA Tower are priced at over MOP$3200 per sq ft only, as this will demonstrates a significant upside potential for office investments. The currently contracted occupancy rates for the AIA office and retail space are 93% and 71% respectively.

The second-annual World Series of Mahjong will be held from September 19-21, 2008 at Wynn Macau. This year the tournament will again offer a minimum, guaranteed cash prize purse of US$1,000,000. More than 300 players from all over the world have already signed up for this year's World Series of Mahjong including players from Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau, Japan, America, Australia and Taiwan. It is expected about 1000 players will participate in this year tournament.

The cost to join the tournament is US$5,000 and prize money will be paid to
the top 32 places in the main tournament. In addition, players will also have the option to join any one of WSOM circuit events (A US$1,000 Reach Rules tournament will be held the day prior to the main tournament, with other circuit events will be announced in the near future).

Last year's champion Hui Chung-Lai from Hong Kong, took home half a million US dollar will also be joining this year's tournament. Other invited players including the first, second and third runner up from last year tournament.

This year the championship went to Mr. Ho Kwok Hung, a Hong Kong player who scored the highest point total of 180.38 points. He received a US$500,000 check. Another two Hong Kong players placed second and third, while the fourth place went to a Japanese player.

Florence Loi, who was being considered a potential winner, was crowned this year's Miss Macau at the Venetian Resort. She is also expected to participate in the Miss International 2008 pageant on the 8 November in Macau.

In a spectacular two and a half hour show at the Venetian Resort, a variety of unique performances were performed by the 10 contestants competed in the evening event. They performed in front of a panel of judges with chinese writing, cooking, yoga, piano performance etc. Only 6 contestants went through to the second round, these contestants then had to go through judges questions with answer segment base on the Beijing Olympic matters. The winners were announced in a sensational style in front of a mesmerised audience as Florence Loi, a 23 year-old marketing operations trainer, crowned this year 2008 Miss Macau.

This year, the second season of the Asia Pacific Poker Tour (APPT) - began on 1st September with an event in Macau will be held at the Grand Waldo Hotel and Casino in Macau as the first of five stops planned for the tour. The APPT event is immediately followed the Asian Poker Tour’s (APT) Macau event which held in August at the StarWorld Hotel and Casino. The buy-in to this Macau Main Event is $25000 (which is about $3,200 U.S. Dollars). A $150,000 High Roller tournament is also part of this APPT event in Macau, which will be held from September 7-9. The buy-in for the Main Event closes at 1:30pm local time on 1st September Wednesday afternoon and it generated over 400 entrants. Tournament officials hope to make it as one of the largest poker tournaments ever held in Asia. The total prize pool of approximately USD$1.62 million is the largest in Asian history.

The 9 players who will play for the APPT final table set in the Asia Pacific Poker Tour’s Macau tournament have been determined. 9 players are all from different countries - Diwei “Bryan” Huang (1,046,000 in chips from Singapore), Eddie Sabat (1,001,000 in chips from California), Jeppe Drivsholm (863,000 in chips from Denmark), Tian Chen (768,000 in chips from Beijing), Charles Chua (617,000 in chips from Malaysia), Mikael Rosen (361,000 in chips from Sweden), Kuok Wai Will Cheong (334,000 in chips from Macau - a 28 year old local who works in the casino), Javed Abrahams (215,000 in chips from London) and So Myung Sim (118,000 in chips from Seoul).

The champion of this Macau Event will be crowned on September 9th.

Macau local Kuok Wai Will Cheong on the final table will need to accumulate more chips early if he hopes to be a hometown hero at this APPT event.

Eddie Sabat has won 1st prize at APPT Macau - The 22nd years old American Edward Sabat was the youngest player ever to make the APPT Macau final table. He has survive a field of 538 players that included some of the best known names in the global game. Sabat had an excellent starting situation on the final table game, but he had to endure several ups and down, before he was able to pick up the win bonus against Charles Chua from Malaysia. Chua started into the final of the last two as chip leader and already had to concede the lead in the first hand. Before Sabat was determined as the winner, the chip lead switched several times.

The APPT Season 2 High Rollers Event in Macau has been won by Nam Le from the USA, who beat Andrew Scott to the top prize in a final table showdown and has won the first prize of approx USD$474,378.

Situated in the heart of Macau’s most important and historic waterfront area, the Sofitel Macau at Ponte 16 is now officially open.

With a construction cost of MOP$3.2 billion and developed by Ponte 16 Resort Hotel Management Limited, the whole Ponte 16 complex also included the casino, retail, restaurant an entertainment complex. The Ponte 16 is located in the Inner Harbour of Macau's Pier 16, it was one of the oldest commercial hubs in Macau. The development echoes the Inner Harbour's heritage and protects landmark such as the "Old Clock Tower". Cobblestone streets will connect the different sectors of the project site with a promenade to be built along the Ponte 16 waterfront.

The 20 storey Sofitel hotel located on the right side of the Clock Tower and casino complex will house on the left side. It comes equipped with 408 rooms and cost of a hotel room starting from MOP$1,350 a night. Other facilities within the hotel include dining outlets, swimming pool, business center and a multi-function banquet room with additional meeting rooms. In addition, the hotel will also have Club Sofitel floors which house "The Mansion at Sofitel" designed especially for the casino's high rollers.
