Portuguese bank ''Millenium bcp'' wants to transform offshore branch in Macau into a retail bank 葡萄牙商業銀行澳門離岸分支機構將升級為銀行 (葡萄牙商业银行澳门离岸分支机构将升级为银行)

The offshore subsidiary in Macau of a Portuguese bank - Millenium bcp, plans to get a license to operate as a retail bank end of this year, the manager of the subsidiary João Pãosinho told English-language newspaper The Macau Post Daily.

The decision to request a license , which will give the group an open door to the Macau market, is due to Millenium bcp’s confidence in the Macau economy and the conviction that it will continue to progress, Pãosinho said.

“We do not plan to compete with these banks as we are going to focus our business on what is called the corporate market, providing loans to companies, institutions or individuals that plan to do business in some African countries such as Angola or Mozambique,” Pãosinho told the newspaper.

Millenium bcp is the biggest private Portuguese ban, with 4.3 million customers and 900 branches all over the world.

DJ Diogo Ribeiro - top electronic music producer in Portugal at Cubic Club

Diogo Ribeiro aka D-tector has been in the top front of electronic music production in Portugal since its very beginning, in the mid nineties.

Influenced by his father’s eclectic taste in music, from Jazz to classical, experimental music, guitar playing and audio equipment collector, rapidly the urge for music production emerged, and after earning his sound degree at the Lisbon ETIC school for communications, he began musical composition and audio manipulation, presenting his first progressive trance act back in 1998. After releasing several tracks on labels like Neurobiotic rec., Flow rec., Nanobeat rec., Millennium rec., Solarsiv rec., Sounds of Sanity, Progressive Grooves, JER recs or Liquid rec., an artist album was released on 2003 as Faktor-D, a minimal trance side project, deploying the chance to tour from New York (USA), Cancun (MX), Zurich (CH), Valencia (SP), Split (CR) and pretty much all over Portugal.

After his recent vinyl releases on Baroque rec. (UK) and Resopal Schallware (DE), Diogo has now a defined and unique sound, crossing over many styles and influences, from Techno, Progressive and Minimal, with subtle psychedelic elements, but with a banging dark groove, that doesn’t give rest on the dancefloor.

Besides his “native” project he also is working on two other different approaches of electronic music, Cooltour going through Dub/Dubstep and Downtempo with Pedro Caetano on the vocals and melodica, and Antonio Lourenço in the Sax, and TJAK on World Music and Downtempo with Vitor Bandeira, Pedro Sotiry and Gabriel Gomes.

The Portuguese Symphony Orchestra of the San Carlo National Theater - founded in 1993 by the Portuguese Government - has received enthusiastic reviews and many invitations from a variety of music festivals as well as from European concert agencies to tour Europe, America and the Asia Pacific region.

On its first visit to Macau, the orchestra will perform the '2010 New Year's Concert' in conjunction with the Macau Youth Symphony Orchestra.

The Portuguese Symphony Orchestra will begin the concert with the Symphony nr. 3 in A minor “Scottish” by Felix Mendelssohn which will include the participation of 25 more advanced musicians from Macau Youth Symphony Orchestra. The orchestra will then present a selection of waltzes and polkas by the Strauss brothers. The night will end with the whole Macau Youth Symphony joining the PSO in the performance of the polkas Im Krapfenwaldl, op. 336 and Tritsch-Tratsch-Polka op. 336 by Johann Strauss II.

23rd Macau International Music Festival 第23屆澳門國際音樂節 (第23届澳门国际音乐节)

The Macau International Music Festival attracts internationally renowned artists from all over the world to perform in Macau. More than half of this year's program - comprising opera, Chinese classical music, passionate Latin American tempos, New York fusion et al, will be performed in World Heritage-listed Historic Centre of Macau sites such as Dom Pedro V Theatre, St. Dominic's Church and Mount Fortress from 9th October to the 8th November.

Guests will be able to enjoy the atmospheric music from so many genres than in the timeless surroundings of Macau's unique architecture.

Macau performance at the 2nd Lusophony Games 第2屆葡語系運動會澳門成績 (第2届葡语系运动会澳门成绩)

After 7 days of competitions at the 2nd Lusophony Games held at Lisbon, Brazil has so far widen its big lead in the medals table, the host country Portugal ranks second, while African country Angola took the third spots.

Macau has finish all the games at the Lusophony Games and won 1 gold, 3 silver and 5 bronze medals in total. Wong Chon Nam won the only gold medal for Macau in the women's 67kg category and Chan Chi-Kuen won a silver in the men's 80kg category taekwondo. Both male and female volleyball teams have won a silver medal, with both teams winning their matches against India, but losing against Portugal. Macau also won a bronze medal (Kin Wa Leong) in the men's single table tennis event, men's double table tennis event and women's double table tennis event, Taekwondo women's 67kg (Li Sin Man) and men's 58kg (Cheung Chi Kin) category.

Macau was represented by a delegation of 60 athletes playing six different sports. This includes 6 athletes taking part in athletics, 11 in basketball, 5 in judo, 8 in table tennis, 7 in taekwando and 23 in volleyball.

Portuguese contemporary repertoire dance company Quorum Ballet is reputable for presenting subtle works and performances of quality. It consists of six dancers, some of them alumni of the now defunct Gulbenkian Ballet, the National Dance Company of Lisbon, New York’s Martha Graham Dance Company and Denmark’s Peter Schaufuss Ballet.

Impacto is a piece about how human beings are changing in the modern world and how that world affects their identity.

第20屆澳門藝術節, 5月12日晚上8時將於文化中心上演由葡萄牙Quorum舞團擔任演出的葡萄牙舞蹈《衝擊》, 為本屆澳門藝術節帶來又一場高質素的舞蹈節目。

Quorum舞團成立於2005年, 由6位分別曾任職裡斯本國家舞蹈團（Ballet Gulbenkian）, 紐約Martha Graham舞蹈團及丹麥Peter Schaufuss芭蕾舞團等國際級舞團的精英舞蹈家組成。 舞蹈團以細膩精致的高質素舞作著稱, 今年剛剛獲得第一屆葡萄牙舞蹈大獎“最佳當代舞團”的稱號。

《衝擊》的構思意念獨特, 動作設計俐落且富有力度, 舞台背景設置簡潔巧妙, 前半部分表現人在現代社會中所遇到的各種衝擊。 後半部則舞出嬉鬧的氣氛表現人在各種“衝擊”之中的反應和改變。

The Portuguese fado singer Cristina Branco will perform in Macau on 28th April in a concert dedicated to Amália Rodrigues, by the local celebrations of 25th April organized by the Casa de Portugal in Macau. The concert of Cristina Branco, entitled "Live" will take place in the large auditorium of the Cultural Center.

The concert features Cristina Branco's most recent repertoire and classical fados such as the very famous 'Ai Maria' and 'Barco Negro'.

MGM Grand Macau presents '1812' wine at Rossio restaurant 美高梅金殿獻新釀葡萄酒「1812」絕品佳釀 (美高梅金殿献新酿葡萄酒「1812」绝品佳酿)

A lunch gathering was held at the MGM Grand Macau on the 13th March, with Wine producer Luis Pato presented in Macau the '1812' wine at the Macau Rossio restaurant. The '1812' wine is made exclusively for the MGM Grand Macau. The name of the wine respresented the inauguration date of the hotel, December 18, 2007.

The '1812' is a wine "with a mix of complexity, elegance and concentration".

From 10th March through 25th March, the wine will be serve at Rossio restaurant and the open plaza with traditional Portuguese cooking styles.

澳門美高梅金殿酒店於3月13日在盛事餐廳舉行品酒午宴, 介紹最新釀製的“1812”葡萄酒。 酒店特別邀請了葡萄牙著名釀酒師Luis Pato親自向賓客介紹該酒特色。 帕托表示該葡萄酒經過十四至十八個月的悉心釀製, 除了用葡萄牙餐後甜酒用的“Touriga Nacional”葡萄外, 還加上“Baga”葡萄及“Bical”白葡萄糅合甜美果香及鮮花的清幽香味。

In conjunction with MGM's "Golden Harvest" Fall celebrations, MGM Grand Macau will show off Portuguese Masterchef Vitor Sobral at Rossio restaurant from 5th to 15th November.

Vitor Sobral's cooking style fuses traditional Portuguese with a modern twist. He uses the usual olive oil, wine, aromatic herbs and delivers it with a contemporary flair, presenting dishes such as his signature, Skate fish confit in extra virgin olive oil with dried apricots and pistachio.

MGM's Golden Harvest celebrations at Rossio restaurant include a diverse lunch and dinner menu - grilled tune with roasted sweet potato, mango, tomato and fig compote or cassava and ginger cake, lychee salad with rose petals, and more.

22nd Macao International Music Festival 第22屆澳門國際音樂節 (第22届澳门国际音乐节)

The 22nd annual Macau International Music Festival was kicked off at the Macau Cultural Centre on 5th October.

Based in London, and founded by famed British conductor Sir Thomas Beecham, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (RPO) will perform in Macau during the International Music Festival. The orchestra is led by Principal Guest Conductor Leonard Slatkin.

Other performances include the St. Florian Boys’ Choir from Austrian and the Berlin Philharmonic Wind Quintet. Trio Apollon will presents the concert “Deutsche Romantik” on October 8 will perform masterworks of the German Romantic repertoire, such as Märchenerzählungen, op. 132 by Robert Schumann (1810-1856), Konzertstück No. 2 in D minor, op. 114 and Konzertstück No. 1 in F minor, op. 113 by Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy (1809-1847) and Trio in E-flat major, op. 40 by Johannes Brahms (1833-1897).

一年一度, 第２２屆澳門國際音樂節１０月５日在英國皇家愛樂樂團奏出的經典樂曲聲中拉開帷幕。

Olympic team train in Macau 多國奧運代表隊在澳門投入賽前訓練備戰北京奧運 (多国奥运代表队在澳门投入赛前训练备战北京奥运)

A number of Olympic delegation will be sent to Macau for Olympic training before the Olympic Games begin in Beijing. Macau will welcome teams from nine different countries include British, Russia, Argentina and Portuguese speaking countries like Brazil, Portugal, Mozambique, Angola, Cape Verde and East Timor.

The British team choose Macau as their place to train and rest are because all the training facilities in Macau are all within a compact distance.

Brazilian athletes say training in Macau will help them to get used to the local time and the temperature. One of the reason the team chose Macau as the venue for the practices are because of the excellent facilities and with the fact that Portuguese is the official language in Macau which makes the team much easier for communication.

英國、巴西、葡萄牙三國奧運代表隊已抵達澳門投入備戰北京奧運訓練,運動員目前正在澳門集訓,他們對澳門的訓練設施和接待安排,表示滿意。北京奧運開始前將有9個國家包括葡語系國家奧運選手國家的三十幾個單項運動隊、約800名運動員、教練員及工作人員到達澳門進行適應性訓練。由於幾個原本計劃來澳門訓練的外國代表團早已取消行程，所以現在確定來澳的奧運代表隊包括已抵達在澳門奧運集訓隊規模最大的英國(包括射箭、田徑、羽毛球、沙灘排球、拳擊、擊劍、體操、曲棍球、柔道、射擊、花樣遊泳、乒乓球等十五個項目在澳門訓練)、巴西(游泳、田徑、射擊三個項目在澳門訓練)、葡萄牙隊，莫桑比克隊，安哥拉隊、阿根廷隊、俄羅斯隊、維德角隊、東帝汶隊。巴西殘奧代表隊將於八月來澳訓練。澳門政府為外國運動員安排的下榻酒店，均在訓練場館附近，政府更加強各場館和運動員住所管理,保安,訓練器材,隊員飲食工作。

英國奧運集訓隊將有二百五十人,其中運動員有一百三十餘名。集訓隊將使用澳門十個體育場館訓練至八月二十日。

巴西奧運代表團游泳隊二十四名運動員目前正在澳門集訓，備戰北京奧運。他們都顯得很放松。巴西其他參賽隊選手表示澳門的運動場所設施很好，和北京沒有時差，又有與巴西相近的葡語環境，所以感覺比較親切以及利於運動員的生活和訓練。
