Macau's casino industry logged record gross gaming and gambling activities, posted gross revenues of MOP$120.383 billion (US$15.047 billion) in the 2009, which past a year on year growth of 9.6 percent, the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (GICB) said.

Stanley Ho's Sociedade de Jogos (SJM) continued to be the local casino industry's market leader among the six rival operators, with a share of around 30 percent, followed by Las Vegas Sands' local operations with a share of about 23 percent. Wynn Resorts finished in third place, with a share of approximately 15 percent. Melco Crown finished in fourth position, with a share of about 12 percent, followed by Galaxy with approximately 11 percent and MGM Grand with nearly nine percent.

The casino sector in Macau generated about 99 percent of last year's total gaming and betting receipts, VIP baccarat provided revenues of MOP$79.834 billion or 66.88 percent of all gambling revenues, with both varieties of baccarat – VIP baccarat and baccarat – providing revenues of 105.332 billion patacas, or 88.24 percent of the total.

A 25-year old ex-sales manager from Ireland - Dermot Blain has won over half a million US dollars (US $541,081 approximately) with a championship trophy, after winning the PokerStars.net Asia Pacific Poker Tour (APPT) Season 3 Main Event in Macau. He defeated a field of 429 poker players to claim the top prize in a tournament that lasted a grueling six days. This is the first time he claimed the major poker tournament title.

Blain took his seat at the final table as an underdog in 7th place with just 507,000 in chips. Heads up play between Blain and Mike Kim then lasted only four hands, with Blain once again holding a King kicker with Kd-Th going against Kim’s Td-9s on an all-in call.

The runner-up Mike Kim takes home US $385,006 approximately, and the third place went to Daoxing Chen.

The Asia Pacific Poker Tour Season 3, starting from the end of August, will have 5 cities-stages which are Macau, Auckland, Seoul, Cebu in hilippines and Sydney in Australia. Over half a million American dollars – that’s what the winner will walk away with after the prize pool for the event broke the US$2 million mark. Payout is to the top 48 players. A total of 429 players were out in force for APPT Macau Season 3 with a strong showing form the Australians (59 players), Americans (56 players) and players from Hong Kong (32 players).

The Asian Poker Tour at the Galaxy StarWorld Hotel and Casino was ended on Sunday 23th August. This year the event attracts a total of 326 entrants at the Asian Poker Tour Macau main event including the likes of Johnny Chan and the ‘Poker Pack’ – a group of six pros heralding from Asia, to enjoy a total prize pool of MOP $11 million.

23-year-old French Adrien Allain from Rennes is the 2009 Asian Poker Tour Macau Festival Main Event Champion. Allain banked US $0.39million for his efforts, which equates to MOP$3.03 million at current exchange ranges. "I'm overwhelmed, this is so wonderful," the Rennes, France native said. "I qualified for this tournament through a $5 lottery tournament on PKR and end up beating all these top players."

The runner-up was Inwook Choi from Korea. Choi got his money in with the best hand after pushing with AQ but Allain spiked a 3 on the flop and his A3 was enough to take the title.

Arguably the most successful player at the final table and holds two World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelets, J.C. Tran came third on the table and was eliminated from the tournament when Choi and Allain checked the action down on a board of A-J-10-9-8.

Pop star Lady Gaga is the latest celebrity to be given an official invitation to the Asian Poker Tour (APT) in Macau. She brought attention to the game with her hit song ‘Pokerface’. The song was topped the charts in late-March and early-April this year selling millions worldwide. The APT invited the 14-time Olympic Gold Medal champion swimmer Michael Phelps last week to the Asian Poker Tour Macau Festival.

The Asian Poker Tour prepares to make its second stop at Macau Galaxy StarWorld Hotel and Casino. Legendary Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps has been invited to attend this year's APT Macau Festival. The event has doubled in size from last year's 6 day to 12 days this year, it will run from August 12 to 23.

AsianLogic - the online gambling operator has penned an open letter to Michael Phelps, offering him the opportunity to attend free of charge:

“Last year, you were in Beijing for the Olympics and we encouraged you to head down to the Asian Poker Tour Macau event at the StarWorld. We heard positive noises, but there was no sign of the human dolphin when they called ’shuffle up and deal.’ We would like to extend this invite once again to you to come, all expenses paid, and take part in this showpiece poker event. The Chamber congregates all six gaming concessionaires and sub-concessionaires, which include Galaxy Casino, Wynn Resorts, Venetian Macau, Melco Crown and MGM Grand Paradise.

'The creation of the Chamber will be an important instrument in promoting the benefits of constructive competition for the gaming industry and for all of Macau.' said Stanley Ho, managing director of SJM Holdings Ltd. Stanley Ho was named as the first president of the organization.

The Chamber's objectives is to provide a platform to discuss issues that are of common interest to its associates, and also cooperate with the Macau government, and contribute to the gaming legislative process and to the implementation of rules and regulations.

Global Gaming Expo Asia (G2E Asia) 2009 - a premier gaming exhibition and conference event dedicated to the Asian markets, kicks off on the 2nd June after the City of Dreams held its grand opening on 1st June. The three-day conference will continue through Thursday, June 4, at the Venetian Macau CotaiExpo. This year, the event features 30 percent new exhibitors hailing from more than 20 countries worldwide. G2E Asia attendees will be among the first to experience 'City of Dreams' first-hand.

The organizer of the event will also honor Macau gaming magnate Stanley Ho, whose company SJM runs 19 of the city's 32 casinos, with the G2E Asia Visionary Award during the Opening Ceremony. Stanley Ho is being honored for his lifetime of achievement as a leader in the Asian gaming industry.

G2E Asia 2009 conference attendees will participate in a full-day forum on 4th June. The keynote address for this forum, "Asian Analysts: The Future of Gaming in Asia," will be held Thursday, June 4, at 9 am in the Naples Ballroom at the Venetian Macau.

This year, the Global Gaming Expo Asia will take place between June 2-4, at the Venetian Macau. The G2E Asia Visionary Award recognizes leaders who have contributed to the success and expansion of the thriving Asian gaming entertainment market.

This Visionary Award recognizes Stanley Ho's key-role in Macau's gaming market growth and success. Paulo Azevedo said Stanley Ho has shaped Macau, helped the infrastructure growth, being at the same time the second largest employer after the government. Ho expressed his gratitude for the award in a video message and said he was honoured to be awarded the G2E Asia Visionary Award. This award affirms what he has done over the years for Macau's gaming business and for the overall community.

G2E Asia is the largest gaming event in Asia. It was first held in 2007 in Macau, organised by Reed Exhibitions and the American Gaming Association (AGA).

PokerStars hosted a grand opening of PokerStars Macau at Grand Lisboa on the 19th March. The room on the second floor of the famous Grand Lisboa hotel in Macau will be the biggest poker room in Asia. PokerStars Macau will hold 22 tables for tourney action and 24-hour cash games.

PokerStars Macau will also host the largest regular weekly poker tournaments in Asia, the premiere "Macau Poker Cup" series every other month, and the annual Asia Pacific Poker Tour (APPT) Macau Poker Festival.

The opening on the weekend of 19-22 March will celebrate the return of the "Macau Poker Cup" and its signature HKD 10,000 buy-in "Red Dragon" event. The buy-in to this Macau Main Event is $25000 (which is about $3,200 U.S. Dollars). A $150,000 High Roller tournament is also part of this APPT event in Macau, which will be held from September 7-9. The buy-in for the Main Event closes at 1:30pm local time on 1st September Wednesday afternoon and it generated over 400 entrants. Tournament officials hope to make it as one of the largest poker tournaments ever held in Asia. The total prize pool of approximately USD$1.62 million is the largest in Asian history.

Some of the notables players who were unable to survive before the final table include David Chiu, Quinn Do, John Juanda.

Eddie Sabat has won 1st prize at APPT Macau - The 22nd years old American Edward Sabat was the youngest player ever to make the APPT Macau final table. He has survive a field of 538 players that included some of the best known names in the global game. Sabat had an excellent starting situation on the final table game, but he had to endure several ups and down, before he was able to pick up the win bonus against Charles Chua from Malaysia. Chua started into the final of the last two as chip leader and already had to concede the lead in the first hand. Before Sabat was determined as the winner, the chip lead switched several times.

The APPT Season 2 High Rollers Event in Macau has been won by Nam Le from the USA, who beat Andrew Scott to the top prize in a final table showdown and has won the first prize of approx USD$474,378.

Asia’s richest tournament, the Asian Poker Tour Macau will begin today on 27 August, this event will run from August 27 to 31 and is being held at the StarWorld casino, following the welcome reception and satellite tournaments yesterday. This year the APT Macau will offer US$1.5 million in prize and the first prize also guaranteed a prize at US$500,000. The buy-in for the main event cost USD$5300 ($5000+$300) and many of the big names are also expected to take part includes Todd Brunson, Liz Lieu, J.C Tran, Kenny Tran, John Juanda, Nam Le, Quinn Do, Steve Sung, Huck Seed, Mel Judah, Mansour Matloubi and APT Philippines champion David Saab, who won the top prize of US$280,000 at the first leg of the Asian Poker Tour in Manila and hopes to add a second APT championship to his poker accomplishments here in Macau.

20-year-old Yevgeniy Timoshenk from the United States of Ukrainian descent has won the 2008 APT Macau at the glamourous Galaxy StarWorld. Chris Parker - CEO of the Asian Poker Tour congratulated Timoshenko at a wildly colorful closing ceremony. He then made a draw that gave away one free seat to the next event for one lucky player, who had pre-registered for the tournament on official website.

"There were points in the tournament where I definitely run good but I have to give respect to runner-up Joon Hee Yeah. He was the last person I wanted to take on heads-up, luckily I had a substantial chip lead. The second casino to embrace Texas Hold'em poker in Macau, Grand Waldo Casino will open a dedicated room on the mezzanine level for this card game. The room is capable for six cash tables and capacity for 110 tournament players.

The casino will also partner with PokerStars to run weekend tournaments leading up to the Macau leg of the Asia Pacific Poker Tour (APPT) this September.

The Grand Lisboa was the first casino to introduce Texas Hold'em on Jan this year.

A charity game will be held on 23rd May, with entry fees going to the Sichuan earthquake victims. Minimum donation to enter is MOP $2,000, which will give players a chance to compete for MOP $150,000 in prizes and entries to the MOP $25,000 Asian Pacific Poker Tour Macau event in September.

Macau to stop gambling expansion 澳門限制博彩業發展 (澳门限制博彩业发展)

Macau's Chief Executive Edmund Ho announce to stop granting new gaming licences and the construction of new casinos, government will not approve new applications for land use filed by gaming companies due to some of the locals protest that casino boom has not benefited the wider society and much of the profits have been sent abroad to foreign operators. The number of gaming licences in Macau would be capped at six, but the gaming constructions that are already underway or in discussion would not be affected. Moreover, slot machines will need to be remove away from the densely-populated districts.

According to statistics from the Gaming Inspection and Co-ordination Bureau, there are currently 29 casinos with more than 4,300 gaming tables in operation in Macau.

US casino giants Las Vegas Sands, Wynn Resorts and MGM Mirage share price have increase by 9%, 7% and 3.4% on Tuesday.

Official data released from The Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau said Gross gaming revenue rose by 62 percent in the first three months of the year (reached 30.085 billion patacas - equivalent to 3.760 billion US dollars), compared to the same period in 2007. Casino gaming recorded gross revenue of 29.823 billion patacas between January and March 2008, the first three months of this year revenue is almost equal to the entire year of 2003. While betting on other activities such as horseracing, dogs, football, basketball and lotteries accounted for gross revenue of 262 million patacas. VIP baccarat has contributed 20.801 billion patacas or 69.14 percent of total gross revenue from the casino gaming gross revenue. There are 29 casinos operate in Macau, counted 4,311 tables and 13,522 slot machines in operation.

銀河金都酒店娛樂場位於澳門路氹金光大道, 為一間設有317間客房 (包括2間總統套房，房間的面積由350平方尺至最大的3,000平方尺) 五星級酒店, 於2006年5月22日正式開幕。，娛樂場面積約600,000平方呎，設有168張中西式賭檯。

金都酒店設有多達316間豪華客房, 包括2間總統套房, 房間的面積由350平方尺至最大的3,000平方尺。 酒店房間的設計融合了時尚及簡約感覺, 而且備有齊全的設施，包括衛星電視、迷你酒吧、私人保險箱等。

金都酒店娛樂場項目由三幢大樓組成，分別為金都娛樂場、金都酒店大樓、休閒娛樂大樓, 酒店房間備有設施包括衛星電視、迷你酒吧、私人保險箱等。

休閒設施大樓設有水療坊、桑拿、夜總會、哥爾夫球練習場以及小型電影院等設施。大樓設有金都水療坊 - 澳門最大型的家庭式水療會所, 浸浴區有香薰按摩池、海鹽池及北極池。 水療坊更設有獨特的情侶及家庭套房, 讓客人與伴侶、家中各大小成員也可以共同感受水療樂趣。
