Macau as 20th Freest Economy in the World 全球經濟自由度澳門躋身前20 (全球经济自由度澳门跻身前20)

The Heritage Foundation has released the 2010 Report on the Index of Economic Freedom. The Foundation’s 2010 Report says that Macau, as a free port, has long been benefitting from global trade and investment. The overall entrepreneurial environment incorporates high efficiency and low-tax, while property rights are well respected. Foreign investors can conduct business on the same terms as locals. Sound regulatory regime assures free flows of financial resources. Since the open-up of the gaming industry in 2002, Macau has attracted more foreign investors, spurring tourism and overall consumption. Other areas of growth include finance, insurance, and real estate.

Macau’s overall score has improved slightly by 0.5 from a year earlier to 72.5, making it the 20th freest among 179 economies worldwide, up one place from the year before. Macau is ranked 6th in the Asia-Pacific region while its overall score is well above the world and regional averages.

The study covers economies in different regions across the world, which have been assessed with 10 factors of economic freedom. Macau ranks relatively high in factors such as trade freedom, investment freedom, fiscal freedom, monetary freedom and financial freedom.


《華爾街日報》及美國傳統基金會發表2010年全球經濟自由度指數, 澳門躋身前20位, 屬于「較為自由」級別。 報告認為澳門公共財政繼續錄得盈余, 令澳門政府能夠輕松應對全球金融危機及推出援助措施。 報告宣稱澳門作為一個自由港, 一直受惠於全球貿易及投資。 澳門整體營商環境效率高、稅率低及尊重產權; 外國投資者與本地商界人士一樣, 從事商業活動均具有同等待遇; 穩健的監管機制則確保了金融資源的自由流動。 自2002年博彩業開放後澳門吸引更多外國投資者, 並刺激旅遊業和整體消費。 其他增長領域包括金融, 保險及房地產等。

該項數據指在全球179個經濟體中澳門名列20位, 較去年晉升一級; 總體評分較去年輕微上升0.5分至72.5分, 在亞太地區41個國家和地區中排名第6。 總體評分明顯較世界及區內平均為高。 這項研究涵蓋全球不同地區的經濟體, 並對10項經濟自由領域進行評估。 澳門在10項經濟自由度評分中以政府開支一項得分最高, 遠高于全球平均分, 僅次于緬甸和新加坡名列全球第3。 澳門排名較高的領域包括有貿易自由度、投資自由度、財政自由度、貨幣自由度及金融自由度等。

經濟自由度指數是由《華爾街日報》和美國傳統基金會發布的年度報告。 涵蓋全球155個國家和地區, 是全球權威的經濟自由度評價指標之一。

Macau Yearbook 2009 English edition available to the public - 2009澳門年鑑公開發行 (2009澳门年鑑公开发行)

The English edition of Macau Yearbook 2009 - an annual publication compiled by the Government Information Bureau (GCS), was launched on the 17th December. The Yearbook is divided into five sections: Administrative Priorities of the Macau Special Administrative Region (MSAR) Government; Calendar of Events; Review of the MSAR; Overview of the MSAR; and Appendices.

The English edition comprises 661 pages and is enriched by 178 photographs. The Chinese and Portuguese editions were launched earlier in November, 2009.


由澳門政府新聞局出版的《2009澳門年鑑》英文版12月17日公開發行。

《2009澳門年鑑》英文版共661頁, 共收錄彩色圖片178張, 內容分為澳門政府施政重點、大事紀要、澳門年度回顧、概況和附錄五部份。 在概況部份, 《2009澳門年鑑》涵蓋了政制和行政、法律和司法制度、對外關係、經濟、博彩業、旅遊、公共秩序、教育、文化體育、衛生和社會福利、傳媒通訊和資訊科技、土地基建房屋和公用事業、運輸、地理環境和人口、宗教和風俗、歷史等16大類目。

《2009澳門年鑑》的中、葡版本已於11月公開發行。

Forbes Travel Guide (Formerly Mobil Travel Guide) announces 52nd Annual List of Four- and Five-Star Award Winners for the 2010 Guide, the first edition of the former Mobil Travel Guide awards since the brand transfer from Mobil to Forbes.

In Macau, Wynn Macau retained its 5-star ranking while Altira Macau was elevated from 4 to 5-stars. Four-star status was earned by the new Four Seasons Hotel Macau, with the same ranking retained by Grand Lapa Hotel Macau (previously Mandarin Oriental Macau), MGM Grand Macau and Sands Macau.

TDM will launch new TV channels 澳廣視推出4條新頻道 (澳广视推出4条新频道)

TDM - one of Macau's TV broadcaster, will launch a satellite television channel on October 1. To represent Macau in all its diversity, the broadcaster will introduce three new channels and plans to develop existing channels, in particular the English TDM News which will serve as a platform between China, Portuguese speaking countries and expatriated Chinese.

TDM-Macau Satellite will provide audiences with news reports in Cantonese, Mandarin, Portuguese and English. The new satellite TV channel is delivered via AsiaSat5 to the Asia-Pacific region.

TDM will also extend the English news to 30 minutes and it will start with some local production, such as interviews and talk shows in English, so that people around the world can know more about Macau and what’s happening in Macau.

TDM will begin transmitting CCTV News on an individual TV channel on October 1. There will also be another channel that TDM will re-broadcast, the CCTV News channel, and a 24 hour news channel in Mandarin which will bring world news to the Macau people. TDM will also start two local TV channels, ‘TDM Sport’ and ‘TDM Life’, showcasing international and local sport events, as well as local lifestyle and community issues to residents using local productions.

A new magazine focusing on Macau - 'Soda Magazine' recently held its launching ceremony at the Venetian. The magazine released its first issue on May this year and it will be published on monthly basis.

韓國樂壇天王Rain，最近轉攻服裝新領域，在經理人公司的支持下，以自己的生日日期 “625”推出自己的服裝品牌Six to Five，去年十二月在韓國舉行了開業時裝騷音樂會，當時李孝利、朴志胤、尹繼尚、金善雅、蔡琳、韓恩貞等韓國紅星紛紛撑場，星光熠熠。在粉絲的要求下，Rain將於六月廿七日在澳門舉辦一場“花生騷演唱會”，與澳門樂迷見面。

HNTV and MASTV officially launched its new 'Kung Fu' Channel in Macau 中華功夫衛星電視台澳門開播 (中华功夫卫星电视台澳门开播)

The formal inauguration of a new 'Kung Fu TV Channel" was held at the Macau Tower on the 16th Feb. It runs programs covering the people’s life and cultural insight, kung fu contests, efc. This new channel broadcast 24 hours of program a day.

The station is, as reported, to be run by China Henan TV Station and MASTV, which will mainly broadcast programs to viewers from Hong Kong and South East Asia Regions. The TV station will continue worldwide growth through expansion into Asian Pacific, European and US audiences.

A high end charity event will be held by Eight Custom Media, to celebrate the launch of new magazine - MillionaireAsia Macau on October 18. The event will be held in Kira, a Japanese restaurant at Crown Macau. Guests from Macau and surrounding regions who received the exclusive invitations, including 60 high net worth individuals, are expected to attend the ceremony.

The first edition of the magazine will be published in November.
