Bryan Berg of the U.S. poses at his creation of the replica of The Venetian Macao-Resort-Hotel, as he breaks his own Guinness World Record for the largest house of Freestanding playing cards at The Venetian Macau.

Bryan used 218,792 playing cards to build a replica of The Venetian Macao-Resort-Hotel during the 44 day project. The final composition is 35 feet long, 10 feet tall and weight 272kg.

美國建築師 Bryan Berg 在澳門砌出世界最大型的撲克牌建築，刷新自己保持的健力士世界紀錄。 要挑戰這項世界紀錄絕不容易，除了不准用膠水和膠紙鞏固建築結構外，在製成品展覽十天後，還要將它推倒作實。

Bryan Berg 用了四千零五十一副撲克牌，接近二十二萬張撲克牌，砌出澳門三座著名建築物。整個撲克牌建築長十米、闊三米，重量達二百七十二公斤。

Chivas has chosen Michael Wong’s Macau show for their newly re-launched Chivas Regal 25 - the synergy of this collaboration is clear through both the title of the new show and the product launch – “A Legend Reborn”.

Dairy Queen to set foot in Macau

Dairy Queen (DQ) - an international chain of soft serve and fast food restaurants, is planning to open its first stores in Macau this year, Reuters reported.

Owned by American Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway Inc., the company said Hon Hoi Group (International) Co. has plans to open a DQ in Macau this spring and a second location in the territory later this year.

Based in Minneapolis, Dairy Queen said it had more than 5,700 stores in 19 countries, including 652 locations outside the United States and Canada.

Macau as 20th Freest Economy in the World 全球經濟自由度澳門躋身前20 (全球经济自由度澳门跻身前20)

The Heritage Foundation has released the 2010 Report on the Index of Economic Freedom. The Foundation’s 2010 Report says that Macau, as a free port, has long been benefitting from global trade and investment. The overall entrepreneurial environment incorporates high efficiency and low-tax, while property rights are well respected. Foreign investors can conduct business on the same terms as locals. Sound regulatory regime assures free flows of financial resources. Since the open-up of the gaming industry in 2002, Macau has attracted more foreign investors, spurring tourism and overall consumption. Other areas of growth include finance, insurance, and real estate.

Macau’s overall score has improved slightly by 0.5 from a year earlier to 72.5, making it the 20th freest among 179 economies worldwide, up one place from the year before. Macau is ranked 6th in the Asia-Pacific region while its overall score is well above the world and regional averages.

The study covers economies in different regions across the world, which have been assessed with 10 factors of economic freedom. Macau ranks relatively high in factors such as trade freedom, investment freedom, fiscal freedom, monetary freedom and financial freedom.

Bryan Berg will launch an attempt to break his own Guinness World Record for the largest house of freestanding playing cards, at the Venetian Macau over the upcoming Chinese New Year. The World Record attempt will commence on January 26 and complete construction on March 10 at The Venetian. Bryan Berg added that this will be his most ambitious project he has undertaken, and there couldn’t be a more fitting place to build the world’s largest house of cards than at the world’s largest resort hotel.

Bryan Berg will attempt to build a replica of The Venetian Macau, The Plaza Macau and Sands Macau buildings - will use more than 190,000 cards and take 44 days to complete. The composition will be over 10 meters long, 3.5 meters tall, and weigh more than 227 kilograms. The cards Bryan Berg will use in this record attempt would stretch more than 17 kilometers.

After 10 days of displaying the completed record-setting replica, on March 20 Berg will have to knock them all down to prove that no tape, glue, or tricks were used. Bryan Berg will manage workshops for children, teaching them how to stack cards, as well as card stacking contests throughout the the construction period.

Visitors can see the project in front of the ZAIA Theater from 26th January to 20th March at the Venetian Macau.

Bryan Berg holds the Guinness record for the world’s largest house of freestanding playing cards, and the Guinness record for the world’s tallest house of freestanding playing cards.

由2010年1月26日起, Bryan Berg將挑戰在44日內以超過19萬張撲克牌堆疊出澳門威尼斯人、澳門百利宮及澳門金沙三座建築物, 並定於3月10日完成壯舉。 路氹金光大道的地標建築物及每一座擁有的特色細節 - 包括里亞特橋、鐘塔、弧形的澳門百利宮及澳門金沙, 將一一顯現在其撲克牌建築物。 完成後整個撲克牌建築物將會長10.5米、高3.5米及總重量超過227公斤。 如將Berg這次所用的撲克牌平放總長度將超過17公里。

為表證實, Bryan Berg會於作品十天展示期屆滿後將整個建築群推倒。 Berg會在不使用膠水、膠紙或黏合劑的情況下完成整個撲克牌建築物。

LORD ASWOD - internationally known as DJ LORD, originally hailed from Savannah, Ga, and now calls Atlanta home. DJ LORD has been acknowledged for years in the competition circuit as one of the best turntablists in the United States. After demonstrating his turntable expertise for members of one of Hip Hop’s immortal pioneers, DJ LORD stepped up to fill the shoes of the legendary TERMINATOR X for the group PUBLIC ENEMY.

In 1999, DJ LORD joined PUBLIC ENEMY on their 40th World Tour. With these performances DJ LORD gained worldwide recognition and acceptance amongst an elite group of turntablists and soon became a highly sought after commodity. While DJ battles and Hip Hop have been at the foundation of his career, LORD is also widely recognized in the DRUM & BASS arena; captivating audiences with his mesmerizing fusion of Drum & Bass with Hip Hop breaks and beats.

In addition to PE, DJ LORD is currently touring with Flavor Flav in his solo effort, and the House of Hip Hop Concert Series with Red Reign Entertainment. Sarah Chang Violin Recital 美國韓裔張永宙小提琴演奏會 (美国韩裔张永宙小提琴演奏会)

Born in the US to Korean parents, Sarah Chang studied at the prestigious Juilliard School at the age of five, and at eight performed as a soloist with the New York Philharmonic. She has since collaborated with the best orchestras in the world, including the Berlin Philharmonic and the Vienna Philharmonic.

She will be accompanied by American pianist Andrew von Oeyen to perform the romantic Brahms' Sonata for Violin and Piano in D minor and Franck's Violin and Piano Sonata in A major. The world’s biggest casino company - Harrah’s Entertainment is seeking to bring the Caesars Palace to Macau. The plans were disclosed by its chairman and chief executive Gary Loveman in an interview. Harrah’s has owned a golf course on Cotai since 2007.

"There's nothing immediately active that could lead us there," Loveman tells Bloomberg. "We've made it very clear we would like to see the Caesars Palace brand in Macau. We certainly recognize there are six licensees, and somehow or other it has to fit through that lens."

However, entering the local market would require working jointly with an existing operator, as the limit of licences is six. The brand has already held preliminary talks with unnamed Macau operators. Besides, Harrah’s is also trying to expand in other parts of Asia, and in the United States, in particular in Massachusetts and Ohio.

Harrah’s Entertainment own four properties in Atlantic City, New Jersey, and seven on the Las Vegas Strip, including Caesars Palace.

Forbes Travel Guide (Formerly Mobil Travel Guide) announces 52nd Annual List of Four- and Five-Star Award Winners for the 2010 Guide, the first edition of the former Mobil Travel Guide awards since the brand transfer from Mobil to Forbes.

In Macau, Wynn Macau retained its 5-star ranking while Altira Macau was elevated from 4 to 5-stars. Four-star status was earned by the new Four Seasons Hotel Macau, with the same ranking retained by Grand Lapa Hotel Macau (previously Mandarin Oriental Macau), MGM Grand Macau and Sands Macau.

Andre Agassi shares a light moment with Pete Sampras during a friendly exhibition


Former world number one Pete Sampras beat long-time rival Andre Agassi at the Venetian Macao Tennis Showdown 2009. This is the first time the two had played since Sampras won in the 2002 U.S. Open final for his then-record 14th Grand Slam. Sampras led their head-to-head 20 to 14.

The match was first preceded by a 45 mins timed encounter between junior no.1 Yuki Bhambri and America's leading junior Ryan Harrison.

Playing in front of 11,000 enthusiastic fans strong crowd at the CotaiArena, Sampras lost the first set 3-6, but rallied to take the second 6-3 and then finished off Agassi in 10-8 tie-breaker. The pair played against each other 34 times in their professional careers.

The two former No. 1s have 124 career titles and 22 Grand Slams - Agassi has eight and Sampras 14. Agassi is one of only 6 men to have won all four majors and also won Olympic gold in Atlanta in 1996. Sampras' 14 Slams was a record until Federer won Wimbledon this year.
