Founded in 1931, the National Symphony Orchestra of Washington DC (NSOW) will perform in Macau this June. The orchestra has long built a strong reputation as one of the world's finest orchestras.

The orchestra giving approximately 175 concerts a year. An artistic affiliate of the Kennedy Centre - North America's prime performing arts hub - for almost four decades, and with over 100 musicians, the NSOW tours the world's leading concert halls and festivals to consistently popular receptions by appreciative audiences.

This concert in Macau is led by Principal Conductor Iván Fischer. Conductor and NSOW share the Macau stage with Leonidas Kavakos - widely regarded as a violinist of rare virtuosity - to play Mendelssohn's 'Violin Concerto in E minor'. The orchestra will also perform Wagner's powerful 'Prelude to The Master Singers of Nuremberg' and Tchaikovsky's dramatic 'Symphony No. 5'.

Viva Macau announces Okinawa charters and new scheduled flights 非凡航空推出沖繩包機航線 (非凡航空推出冲绳包机航线)

Viva Macau has added more flights to its Tokyo, Jakarta, and Sydney routes, plus a new charter service to Okinawa. The new twice-weekly service to Okinawa will be start in June.

Flights from Macau to Tokyo will be increased from two to four times a week, Jakarta from four to five times a week, and Sydney from three to four times a week starting in July. The additional flights and Okinawa charter service would further strengthen Macau's connectivity to the world.

SJM may revive 「The Pearl」 at Cotai 澳博考慮開始發展「The Pearl」明珠項目 (澳博考虑开始发展「The Pearl」明珠项目)

SJM may "revisit" its Pearl project, according to the company's chief executive officer Ambrose So.

"The Pearl" will be located on the smaller plot of the SJM's two projects at Cotai (opposite to the new Cotai convention and exbibitino center). It comprises of gaming centres, restaurants, spa, hotels, entertainment facilities and service apartments, with 36 VIP gaming tables, 200 mass market tables and 1,000 slot machines.

The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2010, with total investment of about HK$5 billion ($640 million).

SJM Holdings Ltd (0880.HK) gaming revenue rose an average 5 percent in the first four months of 2009.

澳門交通事務局5月20日舉行特別號碼車牌競投會, 交通事務局所收到參與MN字頭的１８７個特別車牌拍賣的標書, 較上一次增加三分一, 達300多份。 數字吉利的車牌成為澳門市民追捧的對象, A組車牌MN88-88成為全場最高價的車牌, 以高出底價兩倍多 - $30.018萬澳門元成交。 特別號碼MN99-99的車牌則被投標人以接近17萬澳門元奪得, 為全場第二高價。 另外含有吉利數字「8」的車牌 - MN80-08和MN80-00, 則分別以5.05萬澳門元和2.98萬澳門元成交。

這次特別車牌競投, 為交通事務局帶來400多萬澳門元的收益。

澳門的女企業家商會為了推廣旅遊業, 與金馬輪咖啡餅店合作造了一個全世界最大的豬扒包打入健力士紀錄。 商會已向有關組織申請並已獲接納。 巨型豬扒包長293公分, 闊155公分, 高33公分。 從搓麵粉、發酵等工序到最終“面世”共耗時逾13小時, 需7個員工合力製作。

這個巨型豬扒包要5人手拉手才能圍圈, 全長近3米, 重540磅, 相等於1800個正常的豬扒包。 要造這個豬扒足足用了200斤麵粉, 80磅豬扒及其他材料, 還要用特製焗爐焗7個小時。

澳門的商會計劃今年以巨型「豬扒包」, 刷新去年以3,888個「葡撻」砌成心型圖案的健力士世界紀錄。

The two-part exhibition first introduces the origin of photography whereby topic such as the birth of photography by showcasing the precious collection of Musée Nicéphore Niépce - the world’s first camera obscura, and those from different eras, and old images capturing important moments.

The second part of the exhibition details how the French first introduced photography into China via Macau - Macao is the first Chinese city into where French photography was introduced, which in turn was deemed the outset of Chinese photography. The exhibition displays valuable landscape photographs as well as the life and culture of Macau, Hong Kong and Guangzhou from 1844 until the early 20th Century.

攝影術展覽將再現250件珍貴藏品。 藏品包括難得一見的世界上首部照相機, 以及澳門現存最早的一張銀版相片《南灣風光》等等。 展覽內容共分“攝影術的起源”和“中國的早期照片”兩大部分, 展示的180幅老照片及250件珍貴展品是由法國尼塞佛爾‧尼埃普斯博物館, 法國吉美國立亞洲藝術博物館, 法國地理學會, 法國國家圖書館及英、美、澳門等13家文博機構和私人藏家借出。

澳門是第三個獲得展出世界首部照相機的地點, 第一次是在2004年的紐約現代藝術博物館展出, 第二次是2007年在北京首都博物館展出。 觀眾還將可看到世界首張照片的影像《窗外景色》, 以及首次在澳門展出的最早一批在澳門拍攝的銀版相片《南灣風光》（原件）, 和《媽閣廟》等照片。

韓國樂壇天王Rain，最近轉攻服裝新領域，在經理人公司的支持下，以自己的生日日期 “625”推出自己的服裝品牌Six to Five，去年十二月在韓國舉行了開業時裝騷音樂會，當時李孝利、朴志胤、尹繼尚、金善雅、蔡琳、韓恩貞等韓國紅星紛紛撑場，星光熠熠。在粉絲的要求下，Rain將於六月廿七日在澳門舉辦一場“花生騷演唱會”，與澳門樂迷見面。

這場澳門“花生騷演唱會”，Rain除了是服裝設計師、歌手之外，亦擔任總導演，親力親為監督每項細節及各式設計編排，有別於韓國時的演出，以答謝澳門歌迷的支持。

Grand Waldo Hotel will carry out an extensive renovation work, and its expected to complete by the end of this year. Hong Kong listed company Get Nice (0064.hk) will invest over $50 million for the hotel renovation project.

The project includes the upgrade of the 30000 sq feet night club, an additional 20000 sq feet Thai sauna zone, an oxygen bar and other health check facilities, with 100 distinctive rooms in unique characteristics.

Grand Waldo Hotel currently house a total of 340 spaciously designed rooms, 55 gambling tables with 117 slot machines.

African studies centre launched in Macau 澳門高等校際學院成立“非洲研究及發展中心” (澳门高等校际学院成立“非洲研究及发展中心”)

The Macau Inter-University Institute (IIUM) launched Asia’s fourth African studies centre - African Research and Development Studies (CARDS). The purpose of opening the center is to plan on helping the associations by establishing and publishing their own scientific journals, and it will be coordinated by three of the IIUM’s own African students, whom currently completing their PhD degrees at the institute.

In terms of African studies, only three such centres are presented in Tokyo, Kyoto and Mumbai in which IIUM plans to cooperate with.

Las Vegas Sands eyeing HK IPO for Macau Casinos 金沙擬分拆澳門業務在香港上市 (金沙拟分拆澳门业务在香港上市)

U.S. casino operator Las Vegas Sands Corp is working on a possible initial public offering of its Macau assets, after the company dropped plans to sell them. The person familiar with the matter in the company said Sands has hired Goldman Sachs Group Inc. to manage and conduct the sale.

The potential deal is still at an early stage, a listing of the Macau assets would possibly to take place in Hong Kong.

The company is currently operates the Sands and Venetian resort casinos in Macau.

AirMacau plans flight to Tokyo this July 澳門航空飛東京擬七月開通 (澳门航空飞东京拟七月开通)

Air Macau announced that it will launch scheduled flights to Tokyo, hopefully by this July. This will be Air Macau's second flight destination to Japan, after the company launched its non-stop direct flight between Macau and Osaka earlier.

Duty Free Americas (DFA) and one of the world’s foremost cosmetics brand - Lancôme open a combined Lancôme luxury boutique and DFA beauty store at The Venetian Resort Hotel in Macau on May 6. This is the first retail collaboration between the two companies.

The General Manager of L’Oréal Luxury Products Division - Rémi Chadapaux noted that the new Lancôme boutique at The Venetian is LPD’s largest travel retail boutique in the world. It was designed to be spectacular and glamorous, yet intimate and elegant. There will be a private and personalised consultation area and discovery sections for make-up and skin care advice.

Quorum Ballet (Portugal) at Macau Arts Festival 藝術節獻演葡萄牙頂級舞蹈 (艺术节献演葡萄牙顶级舞蹈)

Portuguese contemporary repertoire dance company Quorum Ballet is reputable for presenting subtle works and performances of quality. 第20屆澳門藝術節, 5月12日晚上8時將於文化中心上演由葡萄牙Quorum舞團擔任演出的葡萄牙舞蹈《衝擊》, 為本屆澳門藝術節帶來又一場高質素的舞蹈節目。

Quorum舞團成立於2005年, 由6位分別曾任職裡斯本國家舞蹈團（Ballet Gulbenkian）, 紐約Martha Graham舞蹈團及丹麥Peter Schaufuss芭蕾舞團等國際級舞團的精英舞蹈家組成。 舞蹈團以細膩精致的高質素舞作著稱, 今年剛剛獲得第一屆葡萄牙舞蹈大獎“最佳當代舞團”的稱號。

《衝擊》的構思意念獨特, 動作設計俐落且富有力度, 舞台背景設置簡潔巧妙, 前半部分表現人在現代社會中所遇到的各種衝擊。 後半部則舞出嬉鬧的氣氛表現人在各種“衝擊”之中的反應和改變。

The construction of the Macau Pavilion for the Shanghai Expo 2010 has started on May 8.

The height of the construction of the building to be set at 19.99 meters, representing the year of the return of Macau to China. The building consist of 7 floors, with a land area of approximately 637 sq meters.


2010年上海世博會澳門館, 5月8日‎舉行交地暨動土慶典。 此舉也標誌著澳門參與2010世博會的進程向前跨越了重要一步。
