The Chamber congregates all six gaming concessionaires and sub-concessionaires, which include Galaxy Casino, Wynn Resorts, Venetian Macau, Melco Crown and MGM Grand Paradise.

'The creation of the Chamber will be an important instrument in promoting the benefits of constructive competition for the gaming industry and for all of Macau.' said Stanley Ho, managing director of SJM Holdings Ltd. Stanley Ho was named as the first president of the organization.

The Chamber's objectives is to provide a platform to discuss issues that are of common interest to its associates, and also cooperate with the Macau government, and contribute to the gaming legislative process and to the implementation of rules and regulations.

Grand Waldo Complex renovation 澳門金都娛樂場翻新計劃 (澳门金都娱乐场翻新计划)

Get Nice Holdings announced that the company will plans to renovate the casino block at Grand Waldo Complex into a retail outlet mall, with gross floor area of approximately 600,000 sq feet which will provide retail outlet shops for selling off-season luxury brand name products. The management believes that this Outlet Project has its unique feature in Macau where there is no similar project under operation.

As a result of the Outlet Project, the casino currently located at the casino block will be move to the hotel block of the Grand Waldo Complex, which will occupy a gross floor area of approximately 40,000 sq feet. However, there will not be any significant change in the number of gambling tables and slot machines at the new casino area. It is expected that the Outlet Project and the removal of the casino will be completed by the first quarter of year 2010.

Solar Eclipse in Macau 澳門世紀日蝕全過程 (澳门世纪日蚀全过程)

The longest solar eclipse in the history is watch by many in Macau, with hundreds of people gathered together at the Taipa Natural Park and the Macau University of Science and Technology campus to witness this eclipse. Several activities and a workshop were also took place at the same time, including the opportunity for the public to view the eclipse with telescopes equipped with a safe filtering system, under the guidance of the Meteorological Bureau.

The weather was mainly fine during the eclipse and it was visible for a long period from many places in Macau.

Longest solar eclipse of the century - 21世紀最長最完美的日全食 (21世纪最长最完美的日全食)

People across China, India and Japan will be able to witness the longest solar eclipse of the century on 22nd July. However, this total eclipse will not be visible from Macau, but people can witness a partial eclipse, with 70% of the solar disc covered by the moon’s silhouette here in Macau. This partial eclipse will begin at 8:13 am (Macau Time), peak at 9:24 am and end at 10:44 am. The Astronomy Assocication of Macau will organise different activitities during the day to facilitate members of the public to view this astronomical event. A commemorative envelope and various philatelic products will be available to public by Macau Post during the above activities.

The total eclipse will first appear at dawn in India's Gulf of Khambhat, then it will move east across India, Nepal, Burma, Bangladesh, Bhutan, China and across southern Japanese islands, with the last brief view from Nikumaroro Island in the South Pacific. This greatest eclipse will occur over the Pacific Ocean at 6 minutes and 39 seconds.

本世紀歷時最長一次21世紀「最完美日全食」, 將會在2009年7月22日上午在亞洲壯觀登場。 這是一生人只有一次觀賞機會, 時數之長預料未來數十年均不再現。 月球本影會沿中國長江東行, 掃過長江中下游兩岸許多重要城鎮。 日全食的時間最長達6分39秒。 而澳門因為地理位置, 只會見到日偏食現象。 澳門可看到日面70%的面積被月球的投影所遮蓋。

日全食將於澳門時間7月22日早上8時2分最先在印度肯帕德灣（Gulf of Khambhat）出現, 八分鐘內會橫越印度大陸中部, 再掠過尼泊爾南部、孟加拉北部和不丹, 之後進入中國。 日食帶會走進大海, 掠過日本西南諸島, 再向東南走進西太平洋。 澳門居民將可觀賞2個半小時的日偏食現象, 東部沿海或沒有高廈的區域向東望, 均適宜觀看日偏食。

為配合2009年日食觀測科普活動之舉行, 澳門郵政局分別在澳門科技大學及氹仔大潭山郊野公園設置臨時櫃台, 為市民提供加蓋『2009年日食觀測科普活動』紀念郵戳服務。

Las Vegas Sands, Wynn to seek Macau IPO 金沙, 永利擬申請澳門賭場業務集資招股 (金沙, 永利拟申请澳门赌场业务集资招股)

Las Vegas Sands will apply for an IPO of shares in its Macau casinos next month in Hong Kong, as one of the options to garner the funds. This will require the approval of lenders. The company recently said that an IPO of a minority stake in its Macau operations could likely raise about US$2 billion for the company. The stock offer will be for the company’s existing assets in Macau, where it already owns the Sands, the Venetian and the Four Seasons properties.

The fundraising exercise is expected to be completed in September. "We anticipate restarting (lots) 5 and 6 and finishing that in about a year from the time we start." Las Vegas Sands chairman and gaming tycoon Sheldon Adelson said.

Other sources have said that Wynn is also weighing an IPO of its Macau assets, to raise as much as US$1 to 2 billion. UBS, Morgan Stanley and J.P. Morgan have been hired to handle the transaction.

Macau performance at the 2nd Lusophony Games 第2屆葡語系運動會澳門成績 (第2届葡语系运动会澳门成绩)

After 7 days of competitions at the 2nd Lusophony Games held at Lisbon, Brazil has so far widen its big lead in the medals table, the host country Portugal ranks second, while African country Angola took the third spots.

Macau has finish all the games at the Lusophony Games and won 1 gold, 3 silver and 5 bronze medals in total. Wong Chon Nam won the only gold medal for Macau in the women's 67kg category and Chan Chi-Kuen won a silver in the men's 80kg category taekwondo. Both male and female volleyball teams have won a silver medal, with both teams winning their matches against India, but losing against Portugal. Macau also won a bronze medal (Kin Wa Leong) in the men's single table tennis event, men's double table tennis event and women's double table tennis event, Taekwondo women's 67kg (Li Sin Man) and men's 58kg (Cheung Chi Kin) category.

Macau was represented by a delegation of 60 athletes playing six different sports. This includes 6 athletes taking part in athletics, 11 in basketball, 5 in judo, 8 in table tennis, 7 in taekwando and 23 in volleyball.

澳門運動員在今屆葡語系運動會完成了所有賽事, 並取得1枚金牌, 3枚銀牌和3枚銅牌的出色運動成績。 澳門團在跆拳項目女子六十七公斤以上組別賽事, 實力強橫的王俊楠連贏兩場擊敗葡萄牙贏得金牌。 爭奪男子八十公斤以上級別的陳志權奪得一面銀牌。 男子及女子排球隊在最後一場賽事中雙雙對戰葡萄牙隊, 結果分別以局數0:3不敵對手, 在此項賽事中分別獲得一面銀牌。 在乒乓球女子團體賽事中, 澳門隊分別以局數3:0戰勝印度隊及安哥拉隊, 但以局數0:3分別負於巴西隊及葡萄牙隊, 獲得此項賽事的銅牌。 在男子乒乓球團體賽事季軍爭奪戰中, 澳門隊以局數3:2擊敗對手斯里蘭卡隊。 男子單打賽事隊友黃漢榮及梁建華雙雙進身四強, 梁健華以局數4:1戰勝隊友黃漢榮, 奪得一面銅牌。 澳門還在女子六十七公斤以上組別賽事及男子五十六公斤以上組別賽事, 由李倩雯與張志健各贏一面奪得銅牌。

澳門派出運動員參加田徑、排球、籃球、乒乓球、空手道以及新增的柔道六個項目。 60名運動員組成的代表包括: 6名田徑運動員、11名籃球運動員、5名柔道運動員、8名乒乓球運動員、7名跆拳道運動員、23名排球運動員。

Wakamaru

New dinosaur museum will be built at Macau Fisherman's Wharf 澳門漁人碼頭建恐龍化石館 (澳门渔人码头建恐龙化石馆)

The first ever themed entertainment attraction built in Macau - the Macau Fisherman's Wharf will commence its second phase construction soon. The project will invest no less than MOP $8billion. A 100,000 sq feet Dinosaur Museum - located right above the current convention and exhibition centre will also be built, with the support from dinosaur museum in China. Fossil Prevention Foundation in China is set to donate a string of fossils, learning and multimedia equipment to the Macau Fisherman's Wharf.

The company has submitted the blueprint for the second phase construction to the Macau government for approval. It will take sometime to conduct land reclamation and construction. The phase 2 project will combine entertainment, food, hotel and marina facilities in one place. One of the major change will be to demolish the artificial volcano structure. Tang City will be relocate to make way for a 200 rooms, 6 star Middle East theme "Ancient Empire Hotel" and other facilities. Restaurants will also be expanded, to include Korean, Indian and Hungarian food. These restaurants can be set up as early as in the next two or three months if the government approves the plan.

澳門漁人碼頭國際投資股份有限公司表示, 為切合市場需要將重組首期項目, 漁人碼頭主題公園將興建恐龍化石館。 擴建工程計劃已送特區政府審批。 “恐龍科學館”，將在會議展示中心樓頂增設, 佔地十萬呎, 投資約2億。 具有歷史價值的古生物、恐龍化石將搬往澳門。 館內設有化石基地及活動教室。

新的擴建工程包括建造近9萬平方米的恐龍化石館, 以及遊艇碼頭, 多媒體活動場地, 兒童樂園, 健康中心和增設酒店。 具標誌性的火山及唐城將拆卸, 改建成中東風格、200間客房的六星級古帝國酒店。 唐城將遷往二期重建。 羅馬鬥獸場將打造成全天候表演場地, 強化舞台設施, 增加活動式上蓋。 飲食方面將引入四個國家的美食, 包括韓國炭燒、印度和匈牙利美食等。 水上表演場將改裝成水上健身中心, 設有SPA及健身器材。 遊艇碼頭年底啟用, 設有20-30個泊位。 新停車場旁將增建具布拉格風格的四星酒店, 約有400間客房。

漁人碼頭主題公園第一期擴建和更改工程計劃, 投資約64億澳門元, 爭取24個月內完成。 第二期擴建工程預計屆時投資金額至少80億澳門元。

Grand Slam Champions Sampras and Agassi - the two former rivals will renew their rivalry in The Venetian Macau Tennis Showdown in October this year.

The Venetian Macau and IMG recently organize the online charity auction for the 'The Venetian Macau Tennis Showdown'. Twenty nine personally signed items or memorabilia are to be auctioned before the match. It includes autographed Sampras and Agassi shirts, shoes and rackets, and three priceless coin toss experiences for the three matches. Fans will also have the rare opportunity to hit exclusively with Ryan Harrison and/or Yuki Bhambri in two twenty minute sessions. The moeny will be donate to respective Charities and Foundations including “Andre Agassi Foundation” and Pete Sampras' “Aces for Charity” program - which will help to support those who are less fortunate. The event also supports the “Make-a-Wish Foundation Hong Kong-Macau”, its mission is to grant wishes to children suffering from life-threatening illnesses.

27th Macau Young Musicians Competition 第27屆澳門青年音樂比賽 (第27届澳门青年音乐比赛)

The 27th anniversary of the Macau Young Musicians Competition (MYMC), organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau was successfully held. The event was ended on 10th July. Around 1100 contestants competed for 23 categories during the competition.

After a series of intense competition held, the first prize of the piano solo (Grade 8) category was awarded to Chan Sin. Chan Sin has performed the songs with excellent skill and confidence, especially when he was performing his chosen work from Chopin. The second prize went to Chan Pui Pui and Cheang Ian Ian won the third prize. The judges from this competition had expressed their appreciation towards the contestants’ standard of performance. Cheong Hoi Leong and Wong Man Ting both get the highest score for the piano solo (Higher Grade). Although Cheong Hoi Leong is only 8 years old, his good musical sense has won the recognition and admiration of the judges which made him received the first prize in this category.

第27屆澳門青年音樂比賽, 經過為期三個星期、近1100人次參與的23項鋼琴比賽後, 已於7月10日正式落下帷幕。

鋼琴獨奏八級第一名陳倩, 第二名陳沛沛, 第三名鄭欣欣。 鋼琴獨奏高級最高分張海量及黃敏婷並列。

評判甘穎昶 - 現為耶魯大學音樂學院準博士, 曾於耶魯大學及康州藝術學校任教, 並在多個合唱團擔任助理指揮及聽音訓練。 他評論陳倩的演繹非常有自信, 尤其是自選曲蕭邦《波蘭舞曲》的演奏, 極具技巧, 表演十分出色。 鋼琴獨奏高級組獲得最高分的張海量, 只得八歲, 是本組比賽年紀最小的參賽者。 評判施敏倫讚揚他有敏銳的音感, 演奏音色優美以及與伴奏者合作有良好的默契。 施敏倫認為另一高分黃敏婷演出泰然自若, 美妙出色。

Merger of ICBC and Seng Heng Bank 工商銀行澳門分行與誠興銀行合併 (工商银行澳门分行与诚兴银行合併)

The government of Macau has approved the merger between the Commercial Bank of China (ICBC) and Seng Heng Bank in Macau, which was owned by gaming magnate Stanley Ho.

The Seng Heng Bank will change its name to ICBC from 11st July. The bank was also allowed to increase its capital to more than MOP$280 million (35.4 million US dollars).

Seng Heng Bank was established in 1972, acquired by Ho's company STDM in 1989. ICBC gained an 80 percent stake in the bank in 2007.

Sands considering Macau IPO within this month 金沙分拆澳門上市業務月底決定 (金沙分拆澳门上市业务月底决定)

Casino operator Las Vegas Sands Corp. is considering an initial public offering of its Macau assets, to raise US$3.5 billion to $4.0 billion in fresh capital. The company needs about $2 billion to finish its latest Macau hotel and casino project.

The Chairman of Las Vegas Sands Corp said "We are looking at a Hong Kong Stock Exchange listing among 5 or 6 options." Other options included raising capital via private equity and or getting financing through construction companies. But a share offering might also attract investors due to the improving economic environment.

"We are shooting for a restart of the Macau project before the end of this year," Sheldon Adelson told reporters. "We anticipate restarting (lots) 5 and 6 and finishing that in about a year from the time we start." Lots 5 and 6 are a part of Las Vegas Sands' ambitious, 12-billion-dollar building plan on Macau's Cotai Strip that will include a collective 20,000 hotel rooms upon completion.

Macau ranks one of the top 20 in tourism 澳門旅遊業躋身世界20強 (澳门旅遊业跻身世界20强)

According to statistics published by the World Tourism Organisation (WTO), Macau is currently in 17th place in the world chart for tourism. The city registered over 13.6 billion US dollars in revenues in the tourism sector in 2008, rank behind Switzerland (14.4 billion US dollars) and ahead of Holland (13.4 US billion). WTO considers tourism revenues the amount of money spent by foreign visitors in accommodation, food and beverages, local transportation, entertainment and shopping.

Macau also occupies one of the main tourism markets in the world in 22nd place in the WTO ranking, with 10.6 million visitors coming to Macau in 2008.

Macau became one the highest and fastest exhibition growth in Asia 澳門會展業成長快速 (澳门会展业成长快速)

According to the findings of the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry's (UFI) study for Asia, the year 2008 marked Macau one the highest and fastest exhibition growth rates in Asia, which had growth for 67% compare to the previous year. One of the reason is due to the opening of new venue at the Venetian in 2007.

In regards to the number of congressional conventions held, it is estimated there will be about 1300 to be held in Macau here in 2009. The Convention and Exhibition Industry will continue to experience the vibrant and prosperous development in the next 3 to 5 years, at the same time facing plenty of opportunities and challenges ahead.

Macau represented at the Lisbon Lusofonia Games 第二屆葡語系運動會澳門代表團 (第二届葡语系运动会澳门代表团)

Macau will participate in the second Lusofonia Games at Lisbon with 60 athletes. A total of 84 people will depart for Lisbon on July 8, with six athletes enrolled in athletics, eleven in basketball, five in Judo, eight in table tennis, seven in taekwondo and 23 in volleyball.

The second Lusofonia Games will take place in Lisbon from July 9 to 11. Participating countries and regions include Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Macao, Mozambique, Portugal, Sao Tome and Principe. Associate members of the Association of the Portuguese Speaking Olympic Committees - East Timor as well as India and Sri Lanka will also participate in this event.

Lusofonia Games held its first games in Macau, where the local team won five bronze medals in athletics, five bronze in table tennis, one bronze in taekwondo and a silver in volleyball, finishing in fifth place in the medal tally.

The new 17-storey Kiang Wu Hospital's specialist medical building is expected to operate in August this year 2009. It will provide 156 sickbeds, out-patient services and also keyhole surgeries. The out-patient services and part of the sickbeds being the first to open to the public.

The new Dr. Henry Y.T. Fok Specialist Medical Center will occupy about 27,000 square metre floor area. The building has two carparks located on the basement, while the ground floor houses the reception, pharmacy and a coffee shop.

Out-patients services will operate from level 1 to level 6 with various kinds of specialist services, such as LASIK (laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis) surgery, anti ageing, health management, orthopedic and rehabilitation, urology and men's health, cosmetic surgery as well as a laparoscopic or keyhole surgery and an endoscopy centre. Level 7 is reserved for future specialist medical services expansion. The in-patient wards will be on levels 8 to 13, with a total of 156 sickbeds will be provided. An auditorium, conference room and a laparoscopic training centre are to be located on the 14th floor.

The hospital is aimed to make use of the advanced teaching and training facilities, to foster professionalism of Macau's specialist medical services.

This year, Macau will again host the 2009 World Women's Volleyball Grand Prix in August, according to sources with the Macau's Sports Institute.

A dozen of the world's strongest women's teams from Brazil, China, Poland and Thailand will go head to head in Macau in the 2009 Women's World Volleyball Grand Prix, which will be take place in the Macau Forum from 7th to 9th August.

Macau was first hosted the FIVB Women's World Volleyball Grand Prix in 1994.

Two theatre companies mistakenly book into the same venue for rehearsal. One play revolves around an elderly man looking for his long lost love, while the other is a farce about a cuckolded man in a secret paradise . . .

Breathtaking drama, comedy and tragedy share equal billing and common tales are transformed by prominent Taiwanese playwright-director Stan Lai into moving, captivating and meaningful theatre in a collective creation premiered in 1986. This drama was also made into a famous movie in 1992. Chinese TV stars and actors from the National Theatre Company of China and Performance Workshop Theatre Taipei - two great troupes who impressed audiences with their wonderful improvisations in 2006 - now bring this gem to the Macau stage.
